communion

The scriptures tell us as often as we drink the Lord's cup and eat of his body we do it in remembrance of his death. The catholics have a weekly communion with a ceremony performed by the priests at mass. Some cathedrals usually large historic cathedrals have mass daily and hold communion during the week. The catholic communion service is formal and ceremonial . Because of the scripture 1 corithians 11:27-34 which tell us we must drink worthily not as though it is just a ceremony with unbelief and contentious hearts. The catholics ceremony includes a responsorial for the masses to repeat which states" Lord I am not worthy to recieve you but only say the word and I shall be healed." They also state a confession asking God to forgive them of their sins before taking communion. However many people will be in their congregation gay or lesbian, drug addict , adulteror ect. why is this? . I like the catholic mass however I fear that it is as paul condemned Peter for. Its not really a sincere service. People wearing robes like what is condemned in the gospels hypocrites do. In the scriptures of corinthians before the apostle speaks of communion he addresses the matter of divisions in the church and heresies. I believe going through a ceremony like the catholic church can become a lip service to God . Our hearts have to be worthy of the Lords communion not our clothes or our ceremony. what good is a formal ceremony if it is in only the heart the Lord looks upon not requiring a specific ceremony. was there any formal ceremony by Jesus when the apostles ate with him. Wasnt his death to make an eternal covenant not just a murder. For the forgiveness of our sins wasn't the cross that which accomplished the eternal atonement so we don't have to goto the temple for our sins to be forgiven. We have to really seek the Lord with all our hearts. Many protestant assemblies that I have been to do a crude quick communion. Yet they do not commune as often as the catholic. The scriptures state as often as we commune we remember christs death. Pentecostals usually state that thier way of communing and worshiping is from the heart and in the spirit. They claim that no other protestant church or catholic worship with their heart. Yet it always seems crude and arrogant in pentecostal church's to me. I do agree that they seem to believe in the Freedom of the apostles and the work of Jesus Christ . However on the matter of communion I dont believe they are any more worthy of communion than catholics. To many pentecostals I've met were not anyless of a hypocrite than catholics I met. Each time I've gone to a communion service wether catholic or protestant. I had never felt as though I should be sitting with the people I am around communing with them. For a while I only communed at home by myself and just recited the communion on my own. I did that in my early 20's while I was trying to figure out what I believed about fellowshiping with the church. My only suggestion is do as the gospels state and commune often. However when you commune really seek the Lord with you're heart remember it is about youre salvation and to remember how much Gods son suffered so that you could be heirs to his eternal kingdom and be forgiven of you're sins. Present yourself to the Lord with a humble and contrite heart by bowing down and accepting his Great Love is really more powerfull than the world that tempts us each day. We need to acknowledge how serious the death of Jesus Christ is and recieve the Grace of his resurection and Abundant life that we now can live in the spirit. The Holy Spirit is our only source of guidance that can truly serve us in communion. Let the Holy Spirit teach you how to commune. Pray that Gods Holy Spirit will teach his perfect will and how to commune as oft as you should with a heart that is worthy of his communion. You only need to pray once for God to teach you to commune with Jesus Christ. Only God understands what his mark is for worthiness and how his mercy is Love and how his Grace is forgiveness. We love each other in our own measure however Gods love is pure and holy and The suffering of Jesus Christ was more than we could fathom. So let us be humble and seek him with all diligence so that we are not hypocrites or playing make believe at communion. Its not just a ceremony that makes us Gods children it was the real death of Jesus .
27Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

30For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.

32But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

33Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.

34And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.

1 corinthians 11:18-34
18For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
19For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.

20When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.

21For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

22What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? what shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.

23For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:

24And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

25After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

26For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

Communion Song Lyrics

Now we are gathered here
This time is sanctified
We drink of the wine and eat the bread
For our iniquities his body was bruised
And for our peace his blood was shed
But we gather not in sorrow
Chorus [1]
To commemorate
Verse
That he died to bring us
Back to the father
What you must realize
Each time you eat the bread
And drink of this cup
It must be said
That you agree with every word
That's in this deed
And that you embrace
The master's death
But its only to remind you
Chorus [2]
The law has been fulfilled
Verse
A new covenant abides
And that veil was broken
We're trapped no longer outside
Chorus [3] (repeat 2x)
So eat the bread
And drink the wine
And will have
Sweet Communion
He gave His life
Once for all time
So we can have
Sweet Communion
Voice
For I recieved from the Lord
What I also pass unto you:
The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed
Took bread, and when He had given thanks
He broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you
do this in remembrance of me."
In the same way after supper He took the cup saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, whenever
you drink, in remembrance of me. For whenever you eat this
bread and drink this cup you proclaim the Lord's death, until he
comes.
Chorus [3] 1x
